I’m a Consulting Detective, if you can understand what that is. Here in London we have lots of government detectives and lots of private ones. When these fellows are at fault, they come to me, and I manage to put them on the right scent. - Sherlock Holmes "A Study in Scarlet"

Update - Back on Baker Street
Hello Internet! My, my it has been some time since I have posted here. I suppose that really is an understatement and I would not be surprised if some of you wrote this blog off as having come to an end. I am writing today to say that while content on this blog may not be around regularly, my Sherlockian musings are still to be found on the world wide web.
First and foremost, I would like to say that it was not my intention to end this blog so quickly and unceremoniously. I simply got sidetracked by all kinds of things (c'est la vie) which made frequent updates all but impossible. What's more, I felt as if I had run out of truly interesting things to ramble on about. I did attempt to write a review for Sherlock: The Abominable Bride, but by the time that I was able to set aside some time in my schedule to write the review, it had been at least a week since the broadcast and I found the corners of the Internet devoted to all things Sherlock Holmes were already filled with reviews (all of them more eloquently written than anything I could have cobbled together). For those of you who enjoyed the two consecutive years of Peter Cushing Month, I tossed around the idea of celebrating for a third time, but once again I ran out of time.
However, back in January, I decided that it had been far too long since I had dabbled in Sherlockian blogging and, in a moment of inspiration, I concocted a scheme for a new project.
And that, in my usual roundabout way, is the true purpose of this post: to introduce you to my new Sherlockian blog, Back on Baker Street.
Back on Baker Street is, as I mentioned, a project which began back in January of 2016 and the blog is the home of The Great Sherlock Holmes Experiment. What is The Great Sherlock Holmes Experiment you may ask? I answer that question by posing another: "Can the Sherlockian Scholar and the Sherlockian Novice maintain their sanity amidst 70+ years of Sherlock Holmes film and culture?"
In short, the blog provides a platform for my friend Catharine and I to watch as many Sherlock Holmes movies and television shows as possible, review them, and discuss them. In doing so, we discover what it means to be a Sherlock Holmes fan and how the great detective has impacted society (all of this provided to you in our customarily nerdy manner).
We began our quest with the 1939 adaptation of The Hound of the Baskervilles starring Basil Rathbone and Nigel Bruce and, at the time of this writing, Cat and I are preparing to review the ninth film in the Rathbone/Bruce series, The Pearl of Death. We hope to continue blogging and reviewing as much as humanly possible tackling everything up to and including Mr. Holmes, Sherlock seasons 1-3 and The Abominable Bride.
It will be a wild ride - of that I can assure you!

I just read your essay in"About Being a Sherlockian". It was fine but I want to point out the actors who appear over and over in the Universal series were not a sort of rep company for those films they were the Hollywood Raj and appear in just about every Hollywood film that was set in England.Tom Francis
